My new blog is about my endeavour to run both the Berlin Marathon and the Chicago Marathon later this year in the space of two weeks.

An attempt at speed work.

ImageI am finding the temperature a little hard to handle but it is certainly easier running in the cold than in humidity which really knocks me about.

Today was cold but the rain stopped when I went out so nothing to complain about.

I ran  4 times at a pace faster than my usual plod.

First I ran about 1500m fairly slowly until I came to a muddy grassy path next to a creek.

FIRST RUN  of about one Km….Pace 4.19 per Km. I felt I was really pushing this. Running into a wind. Not sure what is best…wet grass or mud.

Then a 500m walk jog stagger….

SECOND RUN…this was only 500m….Pace 3.53 per Km. On a path.

Another Km jog walk…

THIRD RUN…back on the mud….I thought I did not try as hard but Pace 4.10 per Km

Jog 500

FOURTH RUN…again 500m on the path….3.51 min per Km pace.

2 Km jog home.

I am still amazingly slow but….actually I am not sure what the but is…..maybe but I did it.

Training Plan coming together

I have entered the Gold Coast. Marathon being run early July and am slowly putting a training plan together. Aim is not to get injured and run at a reasonable pace. I have decided to make Friday my rest day.

Today being a rest day I only ran 3 Km. I think I ran reasonably well despite feeling a little sick throughout the day.

30 push ups and 100 crunches.Image

I received a new jacket free from New Balance. That was a plus.

Time to run a bit faster

Ok Marathon has come and gone and now to try and run a little faster.

Reasonable run today. After about an easy couple of Kms I moved a little faster and was pleased to see I got to my turn about point quit quickly for me. I pushed the pace a bit coming home and recorded my fastest time for that course.

Probably I was still very slow however I felt  like I was moving a bit faster than my usual plod. I kept ‘ the pace’ up and did not wimp out as is my want.

I am thinking on starting another Blog…something like Quest for Speed. One man’s endeavour to out run a slow moving tree.Image

Back on the Road again

Two weeks after the Melbourne Marathon I got out of bed to help wife Tamami with her long run. She wanted to run 32km ( actually she wanted to run 37 but I told her that was not smart) so I agreed to run the first 20km with her. Am I a great husband or what!!

Run today was over a fairly hilly course. I found it very easy. Tamami ran the first 20 Km with me and ran well although she struggles on the up sections. But she will get stronger and should run the Macau Marathon in December well.

It was good to get out on the roads and paths today. I am still not 100% but run today was fairly encouraging.

As I write I am watching  a replay of the Melbourne Marathon which I of course ran. The leaders look so strong.Image
